Put a Sensor in Your Humidor

A hygrometer tells you what the box is doing while you’re not looking. Pair one with Jimmy and you get a history, a warning when it drifts, and no more guessing why a box of Coronas tunnels.

Pick One

• It Has to Broadcast. Jimmy listens for sensors that announce their reading over Bluetooth. Anything on the Works list does. A dial gauge or a Wi-Fi-only sensor won’t.
• Size It to the Box. A desktop humidor fits a screen model. A travel case wants the smallest one on the list.

Place It

• Batteries In, App Out. 2 × AAA, then check the screen shows a number. You don’t need the maker’s app or an account.
• Middle of the Box. Among the cigars, not on the humidifier and not against the lid seal. That is where the cigars live, so that is the number that matters.
• Give It Two Hours. Every time the lid opens the reading jumps. Let it settle before you trust it.

Pair It

• Open the Humidor. In Jimmy Pour: Inventory, your humidor, Pair a Sensor. Stand next to the box with the lid up.
• Match the Number. Pick the row whose humidity matches the sensor’s screen. Its name starts GVH5075 followed by four characters.
• Name It. Something you’d say out loud. Cabinet, Travel Case, the Tupperdor.

Calibrate

• Seal It at 75%. Put the sensor in a zip bag with a 75% calibration pack, or a bottle cap of table salt wet to damp sand. Seal it, leave it overnight.
• Tell Jimmy the Number. Whatever it reads, Jimmy works out the offset and corrects every reading from then on.
